We are really pleased to have been recognised and to again receive a Green Tourism Gold award for our dedication to looking after our environment. Our environment and sustainability are important to us and is always at the forefront our minds as our business grows and develops. Sarah, our Environmental Manager, takes the utmost care to research our ideas and provide us with solutions that work. She is always seeking to improve on our practices, not only for our business but for our team in their daily lives too! A fountain of knowledge and inspiration.

“Dunnet Bay Distillers have done an excellent job at achieving the Gold Green Tourism award following on from their second GreenCheck. They have scored well in Communication, Awareness and Travel. They have started initiatives and training that have been implemented to ensure staff and guests are aware of their commitment. In addition, they have done an excellent job reducing their carbon footprint especially in waste reduction and adopting new environmentally friendly cleaning products. Congratulations to the team on not only retaining their Gold award, but increasing their score.”
Green Tourism
The Green Tourism Award accreditation reassures us that we are heading in the right direction. The scheme assesses members against a rigorous set of criteria using an online system under the three pillars of People, Places and Planet. Working at your own pace the dashboard gives you instant results, highlighting the areas you need to work on and those where you are already performing well.
The uploaded evidence is then checked by an assessor and a final Green Tourism Award grading given. We were delighted with our overall score of 86% which was an improvement on our score of 83% in 2022. There is always room for improvement so we are now focusing on the feedback received by looking at our water recovery and reuse, our biodiversity monitoring and promoting the work we are doing towards customer wellbeing.
