The hero botanical in our Holy Grass Vodka! It was discovered growing on the banks of nearby Thurso River by Robert Dick, a legendary botanist. It has a wonderful aroma and was once used on church floors to give a sweet, vanilla smell when walked over, thereby earning itself it’s religious moniker. Also known as Anthoxanthum nitens
Cinnamon comes from the inner bark of the tree and was once traded as currency! Nowadays as a popular household spice it adds earthier, warming elements to many dishes. We distil the cinnamon in our Holy Grass Vodka to complement the sweeter vanilla and apple notes.
We use Highland apple juice from Black Isle Berries near Inverness. The freshness of the apple complements the sweeter, vanilla notes of Holy Grass.

A very pleasant vodka and as mentioned in another review, a nice touch to have a refillable system. I’m not sure how the distillery reuse the pouches but I’m sure they’re on the case!
I’m not a massive imbiber of gin or vodka but enjoy the taste of Dunnet’s products and will continue to use their products when needed (hic!)
My introduction was via a camping trip and the lure of the unusual non whisky distillery. If you’re in the area, definitely worth a visit.

This is a very well balanced vodka with notes of vanilla and a lively, lemony zest. Perfectly good to drink neat – in fact you would lose the wonderful, subtle taste by mixing it with tonic water or adding to a cocktail. The refillable pouch is a great idea, and so easy to use.

I first encountered Holy Grass vodka (for me) and Rock Rose gin (for my friend) at Cromlix House Hotel when a friend and I were looking for something a bit special and different, and we have enjoyed drinking them on every return trip.
My sister’s birthday was coming up, and I decided to order a bottle to be delivered to her. I accidently ordered the refill pouch instead of the bottle of Holy Grass. I then ordered the bottle. Dunnet Bay were brilliant in emailing me to clarify what I wanted to order. And instead of two separate deliveries, they combined into one delivery which my sister was very pleased to receive.
