Tasting Notes
Nose
Strong, warm pine release with notes of lemon sherbet coming to the fore.
Palate
Very bold berries from the blaeberries, rowan and hawthorn.
Finish
These give way to the deeper earthier notes that are hidden in the original Rock Rose, such as angelica and orris
Botanical Symphony
Rhodiola Rosea
Rhodiola rosea is a plant that thrives in colder climes making it ideal for the fresh breezes of Caithness. We use the root of the plant which adds a delicate floral note to our gin. Over a thousand years ago, the Vikings would harvest wild exposed cliffs to gather Rhodiola rosea. This was thought to give them the extra strength to continue on their long arduous journeys.
Rowan Berries
The deciduous tree, sometimes known as mountain ash, produces a brilliant red berry-like fruit. The tree is very much celebrated as a ‘hero’ in many mythology and folklore tales. In Norse mythology the rowan was called the ‘Salvation of Thor’ as the Thunder God, Thor was once saved from drowning by a rowan branch. Incidentally, our nearest town, Thurso, was named after Thor! The tree is a hero for Rock Rose too as its gorgeous red fruit imparts a delicate flavour adding to the berryful taste.
Angelica
Angelica was once valued as a remedy against the plague, poisons and even as a protection against witchcraft, if you carried the dried root about on your person. It has been used in confectionery but is now mainly used in drinks. Angelica root is in our Original Edition recipe and when the distillation is cut at a higher alcohol strength, as in our Navy Edition, the deep earthy notes really begin to shine through.
The Perfect Serve
So smooth you can drink this neat or just with ice!
- Enjoy our Navy Strength Rock Rose poured straight over ice or with tonic and a wee wedge of pink grapefruit.

This is my favourite gin. I first discovered it in an advent calendar a few years ago and liked it so much I ordered a full bottle. Since then I’ve been regularly ordering the refill pouch to restock my beautiful bottle which is a permanent fixture in our drinks cabinet. I also have a note of the weight of the bottle when full and empty so that I re-order before I run out! But Dunnet Bay always deliver so speedily I don’t really need to do this but it’s just nice to know how many shots I have left

5* from us. My parents absolutely love the Rock Rose Navy Strength Gin, it is now the only gin they’ll drink. As a result it is a frequent request for birthdays, Christmases and any other special occasion! I love buying the refill pouches, rather than the lovely bottles (they already have a few), as an environmentally conscious option. You can even pop the used empty pouches into a letterbox to return straight to the distillery. Thanks so much!

I bought the standard strength whilst up on holiday and enjoyed the boldness. I’ve been meaning to refill for a while keeping the empty bottle in the fridge! I thought I’d try the Navy strength and not disappointed, but keep ity for yourself!!

This is my parents’ favourite gin. They love how smooth it is. The refill pouches are better value and work well.

I love this Gin, I originally purchased a bottle then a refill, the bottle is beautiful and the fact that you can buy a refill at a lower cost to fill it up is ingenious. The Gin goes amazing with Fever Tree Mediterranean light and Fever Tree Clementine

Great gin and a great service, this is the second time I have ordered a top up from the site and the package arrived in quick time. I like the fact that you can send the bladder through the post to save on rubbish. I will be ordering again once dry Jan is over. Many thanks and a great product.

Love the Navy Strength gin. It has a depth of flavour without being harsh on the palate. The refill pouches are an excellent way to receive this superb gin. Ticks all the green boxes!
