Tasting Notes
Nose
Subtle hints of smoke lie underneath zingy citrus notes.
Palate
The clean pine smoke from Lapsang Souchong tea excites the taste buds and, as it settles, a candied sweet orange rises through.
Finish
The finish is long as the deep, rich smoke lingers on the palate. The fresh citrus notes of lemon verbena and tangerine sage resolve into a sweetness on the back of the tongue.
Botanical Symphony
Lemon Verbena
The leaves of this perennial, woody shrub have a bright citrus flavour – ideal for adding an extra citrus layer of flavour. Grown in our distillery geodome.
Lapsang Souchong Tea
According to popular story an army delayed the tea harvest in China and the leaves were laid over pine embers to speed up the drying process. This charismatic, smoky tea was created and is now just perfect for our need!
Orange
The humble orange is one of the hero botanicals in our Smoked Orange Edition! We use sweet orange peel in the distillation to complement the smoky notes from the tea.

I love the orange and smoky undertones of the Rock Rose smoky orange gin. The lapsang souchong is not overpowering, but lingers slightly on the palate and the orange taste is subtle. My favourite Rock Rose gin.

The perfect gin for the lover of all things smokey! This was a gift for my husband, who loves peaty whisky and lapsang souchong. He adores this gin. I do too, though I am definitely not a fan of that tea or very peaty whiskies! The orange flavour is beautiful. So, Dunnet Bay has got it just right and produced a distinctive and delicious gin.

This is my wife’s go to orange Gin. There is plenty of choice out there (too much at times!) but this is the Gin that makes her go ‘ahhh’

The Rock Rose selection is always my first choice for gifts. The Smoked Orange, however, has been a favourite. The refill pouch seemed like a ‘cute option’ according to my daughter, who claimed it may not get to be decanted. A good choice for short or long drinks, full of flavour and ‘a little bit exciting’ she said. ‘it’s a shame I have to share’.
